Product description
Inspired by the Dutch De Stijl movement and Soviet Constructivism, Marcel Breuer created a radically avant-garde design in 1925 with the B3. The Wassily Chair became a prime example of the "New Living" movement and remains an icon of modernism to this day.
Breuer, who headed the furniture workshop at the Bauhaus in Dessau, emigrated to the USA in 1933 due to his Jewish heritage. There, he co-founded the architecture department at Harvard University with Walter Gropius and rose to become one of the most renowned architects of his generation worldwide.
Frame made of chrome-plated tubular steel; upholstered in brown saddle leather. Knoll label on the underside. Very good condition with moderate signs of use. Shipped disassembled.
