Superb set of three brass animal figures by Walter Bosse / Herta Baller, dating from the 1950s. A lovely trio bringing together three particularly expressive models from the famous Austrian production of small brass sculptures from this period. From left to right: 🐀 Rat / Mouse Candle Holder – 5.5 cm A small stylized rodent, depicted standing and holding a circular receptacle in front of it, designed to hold a small candle. Its very clean silhouette and sculptural treatment are characteristic of Walter Bosse's animal language. 🐂 Bull (Stier) – 4 cm A small sculpture with a very graphic character: head, horns, body, and legs are reduced to a few essential forms, giving the piece remarkable expressiveness despite its small size. 🐐 Chamois (Gemse) – 6.5 cm Slender and very recognizable figure, with its curved horns and dynamic silhouette. A particularly elegant piece, with a beautiful old patina. All three models feature the characteristic golden-brown patinated brass of these productions, with lovely variations in patina and shine on the surfaces. The set offers a beautiful coherence of material, proportions, and style, and constitutes a lovely selection of animal miniatures by Walter Bosse / Herta Baller, ideal for a collection of Mid-Century Austrian design.
