VV Møbler Extendable Dining Table, Denmark, 1960s
Produced by VV Møbler in Spottrup during the 1960s, this extendable dining table is an elegant example of Danish cabinetmaking, combining restrained design with exceptional material quality. The softly rounded top, slender tapered legs and finely shaped solid rosewood edge create a balanced silhouette that appears light despite its generous proportions. Every element has been carefully considered, allowing the craftsmanship and the richness of the timber to define the piece.
The tabletop is veneered in beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood, displaying deep reddish-brown tones with dramatic black figuring and carefully balanced grain patterns across the entire surface. The two extension leaves have been matched to complement the main top, preserving the visual continuity whether the table is used in its compact circular form or fully extended. The rounded solid rosewood edge frames the veneer with subtle precision, while the gently tapered legs reinforce the table's refined architectural character.
With a diameter of 120 cm, the table comfortably seats four to six people in its closed position. The two extension leaves, each measuring 50 cm, increase the length to 170 cm or a maximum of 220 cm, making it equally suitable for larger gatherings without compromising its elegant proportions.
The table has been carefully cleaned, fully inspected and professionally restored. Following restoration, the rosewood has been treated with a high-quality furniture oil, enhancing the remarkable depth and colour variation of the veneer while preserving its natural character. It remains in excellent vintage condition with only honest signs of age and use consistent with its history.
