Striking vintage Viva Villa table lamp, Made in France, featuring an elegant combination of deep teal / emerald green, warm gold and cream. The sculptural pagoda-inspired base has a glossy finish decorated with an intricate golden geometric lattice and quatrefoil motif, known in French decorative arts as motif croisillon avec quadrilobe. Gold/brass-tone details at the base and top give the lamp its luxurious character. The large textured cream/beige vintage fabric shade with contrasting piping beautifully complements the teal and gold base and produces a warm atmospheric glow when illuminated. Stylistically, the lamp reflects the luxurious French interiors of the 1970s, combining elements of Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie and Pagoda style. Its aesthetic is reminiscent of French designs associated with the Jean-Claude Mahey style, although no attribution to Mahey himself is documented.
