Vintage bentwood stool featuring a natural cane seat and steam-bent wooden frame in the classic Thonet style. One available.
Inspired by the iconic bentwood furniture popularised in Central Europe during the late nineteenth century, this round stool’s understated graceful curves and lightweight construction has been a favourite for more than a century.
Bentwood furniture is created via elegant engineering where solid wood is steam-bent into curves that are both strong and lightweight. With the traditional cane seating, this design synonymous with Thonet has become one of the most enduring forms of European furniture, and continues to suit both traditional and contemporary homes.
It functions as a seating stool, plant stand, side table, bedside table, bathroom stool, vanity stool, entryway or occasional seat.

Light age-related wear consistent with use. The woven cane seat remains firm and suitable for seating. Some cane strands on the underside of the seat are loose (see photos), not visible from above and does not affect stability, or structural integrity. The bentwood frame is solid and sturdy..
