Hyonsun Rhee (born in 1938) is a Japanese designer of Korean descent, trained at Kyoto University of the Arts. He was an artist-in-residence at Upsala-Ekeby between 1962 and 1965, a period during which he developed his signature clean lines and textured surfaces, blending Asian influences with Scandinavian aesthetics.
Founded in the 19th century, Upsala-Ekeby is one of the leading Swedish ceramic manufacturers of the 20th century, renowned for its collaborations with international designers and for the quality of its modernist production.
