Ingrid Atterberg (1920–2008), a leading figure in Swedish ceramics, designed numerous series for Upsala Ekeby between the 1940s and 1960s, series that are now highly sought after in Scandinavian design. The Bris series, to which these two pieces belong, is distinguished by its textured surfaces and characteristic colors, and was notably produced in the 1960s for the Swedish department store Åhlén & Holm.
