For sale is an artfully crafted, heavy vintage glass bowl from the mid-century period (circa 1950s-1970s). The bowl has a dynamic, organically curved shape and a harmonious interplay of colors: a delicate rose/violet hue and warm amber/yellow in the solid base.
The piece is in very good, age-appropriate condition with no major damage (see photos for details). Two tiny blemishes are visible in the photos, but are only noticeable upon close inspection.
Due to the polished base and the handcrafted design, this piece is primarily attributed to two renowned glassmaking regions of this era:
- Chribska Glassworks (Bohemia, designed by Josef Hospodka): Known for this typical, undulating floral shape and the colorful, thick-walled glass.
- Murano (Italy, Sommerso style): Famous for the technique of seamlessly blending layers of different colored glass.
Expertise/Type: Based on the specific wavy rim design and the typical color combination, the clear indication is a design by Josef Hospodka for the Bohemian glassworks Chribska. These distinctive bulges and the clean base cut are extremely characteristic of Czechoslovakian glass art of this period.
