Beautiful, heavy designer glass paperweight from the iconic British brand Whitefriars. This is the sought-after large variant of the 'Ribbon Swirl & Controlled Bubbles' design, created in the 1970s by master glassblower Ray Annenberg. A stunning modernist object for lovers of high-end glass art. Why this object is unique: * Unique "End of Day" version: The pattern is constructed from the classic red/white and blue/white ribbons (Latticino technique). Unique to this specific piece is that only one red/white and green ribbon has been incorporated. This points to an improvisation by the glassblower using a leftover glass rod at the end of the workday. There is presumably no other like it! * Superior craftsmanship: The controlled bubbles lie in a perfect, perfectly straight geometric line between the woven ribbons. This is the hallmark of authentic and high-quality Whitefriars production. * Solid lead crystal: Weighing a substantial 916 grams (33% heavy lead crystal), the object feels extremely solid. The base is mirror-smooth, flat polished.
