Vintage Japanese Jikata Geisha doll with bell and Kotsuzumi drum. Jikata geishas specialize in singing and playing musical instruments. This Jikata stands next to her Kotsuzumi, with a drumstick in her right hand and a percussion bell in her left arm. The Kotsuzumi drum is a small, hourglass-shaped drum used in Japanese Noh drama (dance drama). The wooden drum is 6.5 cm high and has Japanese characters in bright, black ink. The top of the drum is carved in a bowl shape and painted the same color as the kimono. The metal bell makes a sound when shaken. Her beautiful face is white with painted lips, painted eyebrows, and black eyes. Her head appears to be made of porcelain or Hakata clay. Her feet and hands appear to be made of plastic or celluloid from the mid-20th century. The woven brocade kimono she wears is red-orange with silver, gold, and multicolored accents. She has a tall copper and black headdress. The height is 22 cm, for the condition please see the photos. Please note: This item is vintage, so there may always be discoloration or similar imperfections present.
