Vintage hand-painted Japanese Imari plate with ox cart, pink cherry blossoms, and gold plating. This vintage Japanese decorative wall plate of Imari porcelain features a beautiful hand-painted image of a traditional ox cart from the Heian period, surrounded by lush cherry blossoms. The ox cart, also known as gosho guruma or ushiguruma, was formerly used by wealthy people in Japan during the Heian era. It is a recurring theme in Japanese art and symbolizes elegance, refinement, and the aristocratic life. Blooming sakura branches grow around the cart, a crucial symbol in Japanese culture that represents renewal, beauty, and the eternity of life. The plate is crafted from the extensive, layered color palette associated with Imari or Arita products, featuring deep cobalt blue, iron red, green, and ample gilded details. The reverse is marked and has holes in the foot ring, allowing it to be easily displayed on the wall as intended. Decorative Imari plates, such as this one, were popular as exhibition objects for both export and domestic use at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. The decorative plate is in good vintage condition and marked on the back. Beautiful hand-painted Chinese plate with a botanical illustration. The Oriental decorative plate has a diameter of approximately 34 cm and is approximately 4.5 cm high.
