A mid-century, vintage faux bois stone garden set consisting of 4 chairs and a matching table, France, 1960s, Brutalist.
Faux Bois refers to the artistic imitation of wood and wood grain. This rustic concrete garden set consists of four chairs and a table featuring a natural relief of tree trunk and bark, with clearly visible/tangible wood grain structure.
The weathered patina contributes to their vintage charm and evokes a sense of history and character, as seen in antique French outdoor vases and pots or Willy Guhl items. These chairs fit effortlessly into any outdoor setting, whether you have a lush garden, a cozy terrace, or a quiet courtyard.
This striking example of Brutalist garden decoration blurs the line between functional furniture and outdoor sculpture. Or used separately as statement pieces for the interior.
The construction consists of concrete "faux bois" with metal supports on the inside. The faux bois technique (literally: imitation wood), which was particularly popular in France from the late 19th century to the 1940s, allowed artists to mimic wood using various materials.

Condition
The entire set shows natural signs of wear resulting from age and outdoor use.
The metal construction is clearly visible on some parts. The surface of the table top shows some small visible cracks caused by sunlight. The top rests loosely on top.
The armchair chairs have some cracks and one of them is structurally weaker (could use some TLC), see photos, but given the weight of the chairs, once set up it might be intended more as decoration; it is fully functional and comfortable to sit on, but slightly more fragile - this has been factored into the price -
