The Tongue chair, designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1967.
It's a seminal work of postwar modern design. Instantly recognizable, its fluid, sculptural form embodies Paulin’s radical approach to seating—where the human body, rather than tradition, defines the shape.
Upholstered in its original green fabric.
The continuous, sinuous silhouette flows seamlessly from back to seat, creating a low, inviting posture that feels as contemporary today as it did at its introduction. Both functional and expressive, the Tongue chair blurs the line between furniture and sculpture.
