Exceptional mid-century ceramic lidded bowl by Carstens Tönnieshof, model 530-16, produced in West Germany during the 1950s–60s.
This sculptural organic design features a beautiful reactive turquoise glaze with bronze/copper metallic effects. The biomorphic shape and flowing glaze make it a striking decorative object with strong mid-century modern and studio pottery aesthetics.
The original partially worn Carstens Tönnieshof sticker is still present on the lid, and the base is marked 530-16.
Condition:
vintage condition with age-related wear
visible hairline crack on bowl rim/body (see photos). still displays beautifully and remains very decorative
