A vintage Asian porcelain tea caddy with a rich red glaze and gold and black decorative accents, including dragons, clouds, and symbols of longevity. The octagonal shape and the braided wicker handle (damage, see photo) give the tea caddy a beautiful character and a stylish appearance. The removable lid has a black knob (minor damage, small white spot on porcelain) and fits perfectly onto the opening (damage). The interior is glazed white porcelain and the bottom features a red maker's mark (see photos). Pieces in this style were frequently exported to Western markets in the mid-20th century and are highly sought after by collectors of chinoiserie and Asian-inspired decoration. Perfect for a tea room, display cabinet, on a shelf, or as a unique storage jar.
Made in the period between 1960 and 1980.
