The Tolomeo Tavolo by Artemide is one of the most famous designs in Italian lighting design. The lamp was designed in 1987 by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina and developed into a modern design classic due to its characteristic construction. Its appearance is defined by the long, slender aluminum arms and the openly visible cable pull mechanism. Several articulation points allow the position and orientation of the lamp to be flexibly changed, while the technical construction remains deliberately visible and forms an essential part of the design. The conically shaped lamp head can also be adjusted and complements the precise, functional design language. The round aluminum base forms a calm counterpoint to the delicate mechanics of the arms.
