A vintage French Art Deco pine tambour room divider designed by Jomain Baumann for Baumann, produced in France during 1930s. This sculptural folding screen, also known as a paravent, is made from narrow patinated pine slats with a flexible tambour construction, giving it a warm architectural presence and a beautifully rhythmic Art Deco silhouette.

With its softly undulating top line, vertical pine slats and flexible sculptural form, this room divider has a strong decorative presence while remaining refined and understated. The narrow slatted construction gives the piece visual rhythm, while the warm patinated pine adds depth, texture and character. It can be shaped into a soft wave or used more extended, creating a natural architectural element within an interior.
Jomain Baumann’s tambour screens are closely associated with French Art Deco and mid-century interiors. These folding screens are often described as Baumann or Baumann & Melun / Baumann & Fils productions from France, made from pine slats connected with metal wire and designed to fold, curve or extend into different positions.
Condition
Good vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its period. The pine shows a warm patina, light surface scratches, small marks, minor scuffs and natural age-related finish wear throughout. One end side has a few stiffer slats and is not able to move both ways on those sections, as shown in the photos. The room divider remains structurally solid and ready for use.
