The Acrilica table lamp, model 28, was designed by Joe Colombo for Oluce in 1960. This piece represents a significant milestone in mid-century Italian lighting design, characterised by its innovative use of materials and striking sculptural form.
The lamp features a sweeping, curved shade crafted from thick, transparent plexiglass, which conducts light from the base upwards through the material itself. The base is constructed from black metal, housing the light source and providing a solid visual anchor. This original first edition from the 1960s includes a transformer and is fitted with a European plug.
The lamp remains in good condition, retaining its original character and functionality. The transparent plexiglass maintains its clarity, while the black metal base shows a patina consistent with its age and history.
