Decorative commemorative and wall plate made of glazed ceramic by Villeroy & Boch.
The center features a finely executed black-and-white view of the historic Heilbronn Town Hall with its characteristic astronomical art clock. The scalloped rim is accented by a narrow gold-colored line.
On the back, the plate bears the green manufacturer's mark of Villeroy & Boch with the inscription "Made in Germany" and "Saar". Below that is the inscription:
"Presented by Heinrich Taxis, G.m.b.H., Heilbronn – Bad Mergentheim."
Hainrich Taxis was not the manufacturer, but presumably the client or presenter of this special company or customer gift. This makes the plate not only decorative but also has an interesting regional and corporate historical reference.
Presumably late 1950s to 1960s. A more precise dating would only be possible by comparing it with historical factory documents.
A characterful unique piece for collectors of Villeroy & Boch, historical city views, and regional memorabilia. Due to its restrained coloring, the plate can also be beautifully integrated into a classic or eclectic picture wall.
Good to very good vintage condition. No cracks or chips visible. Signs of age and use as well as slight abrasion on the gold-colored rim line may be present. Please note the detailed photos; they are part of the description.
