Magnificent oil on canvas titled "Urban Typical Ibiza Corner" / View of Sa Penya, by Victorino Berbegal Capelo, a painter based in Sitges and linked to the Catalan landscape tradition. His work shows affinities with Mediterranean landscape painting influenced by Post-Impressionism and the Luminist style, a legacy of the historic Luminist School of Sitges.
The painting depicts a recognizable view of Sa Penya (The Rock), a historic fishing neighborhood located next to the port of Ibiza.
The work is accompanied by the original vintage postcard used by the artist as a reference for the composition: this document adds historical value to the piece and allows us to appreciate the process of transforming the photographic image into a personal pictorial interpretation.
On the back of the canvas is the original inscription "Urban Typical Ibiza Corner," which reinforces the thematic identification of the scene depicted.
