Product description
The Utrecht chair is one of the few upholstered chairs by Rietveld that was actually put into production. The chair, with armrests that transition into the front legs, was released in 1936 by Metz & Co. in Amsterdam. The seat and backrest form an angle, the tilted connection of which forms the rear leg. The first version was upholstered in dark brown canvas and finished with a clearly visible festoon stitch. After the war, Metz & Co. resumed production of the chair, now in woolen fabrics (felt), once again featuring the distinctive white stitching.
