Vintage vase lamp by Dümler & Breiden – West German Pottery with a Japanese crane design
This exceptional accent lamp combines the expressive ceramics of Dümler & Breiden with a handcrafted lampshade made of high-quality Japanese designer fabric. The result is a distinctive piece that blends mid-century design and Far Eastern elegance to create a unique ambiance.
The original vintage vase by Dümler & Breiden impresses with its striking shape and expressive fat lava glaze. Combined with the generously sized lampshade, it becomes a table lamp that is a focal point whether switched off or illuminated. The warm light beautifully highlights the fine details of the crane motif and creates a pleasant, inviting atmosphere.
The lampshade was handcrafted in my Berlin workshop. The high-quality Japanese fabric depicts a majestic crane against a stylized landscape – a classic motif that symbolizes good fortune, longevity, and harmony in Japan. The fabric's natural translucency creates a particularly atmospheric light.

Conversion to a lamp – gentle on the object & reversible
The vintage vase has been converted into a lamp without any drilling or permanent alterations. The conversion is achieved using a specially developed plug-in solution, preserving the original collector's value of the ceramic. The lamp base is weighted with sand inside and can be easily returned to its original state.
Technology – wireless & flexible
The lamp is powered by a rechargeable LED bulb, which can be charged via a USB-C cable. It provides up to 12 hours of light. The bulb can be purchased separately for approximately €12. The LED light source is suitable for outdoor use and can be used, for example, on a balcony or patio. Brightness and various light colors can be conveniently adjusted via remote control.
Each vase lamp from Roomlight Studio is a handcrafted, unique piece – made from carefully selected vintage ceramic and individually coordinated designer fabrics. This results in timeless accent lamps that uniquely combine design history and modern living.
