An absolute eye-catcher for the lover of high-quality vintage design. This rare, large set of 10 original Thonet 'Long John' chairs from 1978 (also known as the 'Lange Jan' or Model 17) exudes the pure elegance of the 1970s. The chairs are crafted from beautiful black lacquered bentwood and feature the characteristic extra-high backrest with the iconic circle motif. The airy rattan webbing gives the set a timeless, designer look. The breakdown of the 10 chairs is as follows: . 7 chairs are in excellent condition. The weaving of both the seats and the backrests is good and sturdy. A perfect base for a generous dining table. . 3 chairs are included as a small restoration project. The rattan seats on these three chairs need to be repaired. Ideal for expanding the set in the future to an impressive table for 10 people. Dimensions: Height 116 Width 47 Depth 53 Seat height 47 Seat depth 41 Optional: Handmade Oak Dining Table (Extendable) To complete the picture, a matching, artisanally handmade oak dining table can be purchased. Although this is not a Thonet table, the rich patina of the table in combination with the chairs is truly stunning. The table is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina aged by the years. Dimensions: . Round with a diameter of approx. 120 cm (perfectly compact and intimate for 4 to 5 people). . Extendable: Easily extended with 1 or 2 extension leaves to an oval table of 170 cm in length or to a generous length of no less than 220 cm. In the extended position, the table effortlessly accommodates the larger set of 10 Thonet chairs. These 'Long John' chairs come from a carefully built private Thonet collection seeking a new home due to a move to an assisted living apartment. All items in the collection feature the original Thonet labels. The following unique pieces are also available:
• An extendable Thonet dining table with 6 matching chairs (Model 19 – the iconic Angel Back / Engelstuhl).
• 2 Thonet rocking chairs (Model 21).
• 2 Thonet bar stools (Model 204).
The Long Jack chairs and the table are preferably for sale as a complete set, but the 10 Long Jack chairs can also be purchased separately.
