This unique accent lamp was crafted from an original vintage IKEA vase from the 1970s. The original IKEA sticker on the vase confirms its provenance – a beautiful piece of history from the early days of IKEA home accessories.
For context:
IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943. IKEA opened in Germany in 1974 and in the Netherlands in 1978. Home accessories like vases were relatively new to the IKEA range at that time and became an integral part of the concept of making design affordable for many. Designs were often created in collaboration with in-house designers. Today, early IKEA items – especially ceramics from the 1960s and 70s – are increasingly becoming collector's items.
The Vase
The vase impresses with its clean, graphic form and a warm, brown glaze. A typical example of the minimalist, functional design language of that era. In very good condition.
Conversion to a lamp (careful & reversible):
The vase was not damaged. No holes were drilled.
The lamp is assembled using a high-quality plug-in solution that fits perfectly and can be removed without leaving any residue. The base is weighted with sand for stability.
