Striking turquoise blue (and opaline white) 31.5 cm Carnaby Danish vase designed in 1968 by Christer Holmgren for Holmegaard/Kastrup Glasværk A/S, Denmark.
This blue object was designed as a vase but is sometimes also called a candle holder. It has been blown with 2 layers of glass, opaline white on the inside and turquoise blue on the outside. In English this technique is called “cased” or “casing” (in German “überfang”).
This vase is in excellent vintage condition, with no cracks, no chips, no flea bites, and hardly detectable signs of wear from use and age. This model was made in 3 different sizes, and this listing is for the largest size of the series and is not often offered. Traditionally these Carnaby vases were not signed at the production but only got a paper label, which usually came off during use.
More information can be found on the Danish site hardernet.dk, with plenty of information on the factory, designer, product, and color range.
