A stunning and imposing Space Age / Mid-Century Modern table lamp, designed by the celebrated master Toni Zuccheri and handcrafted in Murano, Italy, during the 1970s.This premium piece features an extraordinary spherical diffuser made of hand-blown clear crystal glass, beautifully enriched with large dual-tone amber/ochre and deep midnight-blue glass canes (canne) that converge into a striking vortex at the top. The geometric base is crafted from mirror-polished chromed metal, separated by a black central cylinder that enhances the futuristic aesthetic typical of the era. When lit, it projects a dramatic and beautiful vertical pattern of light and shadow on the walls.
Handcrafted Authenticity & Hallmarks:
Unlike modern reproductions or mass-produced molded items, this vintage piece showcases the definitive hallmarks of elite Murano glassmaking:
Tactile Texture: The colored stripes were applied a caldo (hot-applied) onto the surface of the glass body before the final blow. This leaves the colorful ribbons slightly and beautifully textured/rough to the touch—an unmistakable sign of manual execution.
Artisanal Inclusion: Microscopic, rare air bubbles trapped within the crystal and the subtle trace of the pontil mark further certify its authentic furnace-blown nature.
Condition Report & Electrical Notes:The lamp is in excellent vintage condition. The Murano glass sphere is structurally flawless: the bottom neck is entirely intact, with no chips or hairline cracks around the screw points. The chrome base retains its original high-shine mirror finish, showing a light and beautiful patina of time (faint surface micro-scratches consistent with age).
Electrical Note: The internal components and wiring are original and fully working (original E27 bakelite socket with brass contacts). Please note that the small external plastic button cover on the inline switch is missing. The internal mechanism is fully functional and intact, though it feels a bit stiff/hard to click due to the missing plastic cover (as shown in the detailed photo).
