The Life Wheels is an ode to the continuous movement of life.
In both panels, organic shapes, leaves, flowers, and circles unfold like small worlds that seem to be constantly in motion. The circles refer to the natural rhythms of existence - to emergence and flourishing, growing and changing, letting go and starting anew.
The different layers of color are built up by hand and sanded down here and there, causing older layers to reappear on the surface. As if the past never completely disappears, but gently continues to move with what we are today.
The wooden frames also carry that history. Painted layer over layer and sanded again, they bear subtle traces of time. Nothing is completely smoothed out.
Together, the two works form a movement from inside to out, from growth to bloom, from one moment to the next.
The Life Wheels reminds us that life is not a straight line.
It moves in circles. We grow, change, lose, find again.
Sometimes we return to something old, but never exactly as we were.
And perhaps that is the quiet beauty of life:
that every new circle gives us the opportunity to flourish again.
