Coromandel wood inlaid in a sturdy oak frame. Graphic shapes, black stained details and new upholstery.
From a private collection, purchased in the past by the grandparents at 't Woonhuys on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. Michel de Klerk was the most active designer of 't Woonhuys at the time, most likely the designer of this armchair.
Michel de Klerk was one of the best-known architects of the Amsterdam School movement (expressionist architecture). His designed furniture is special and highly sought after worldwide.
In very good condition considering its age. The armchair has hardly been used and has been carefully reupholstered by a restorer.
