Stig Arne Ragnar Aspelin, born May 28, 1911, died September 8, 1990, was a Swedish painter and graphic artist.
Aspelin began working as an advertising illustrator and professional lithographer before enrolling in art studies at the Skåne School of Painting in Malmö in 1930 and during study trips to Germany and France. He made his debut at an exhibition with the Skåne art association in 1935, and then regularly participated in the association’s autumn exhibitions and various collective exhibitions in the countryside. He exhibited with Gustaf Sjöö at Färg och Form in Stockholm in 1938 and with Gunnar Ekdahl at Ystad in 1948. His art consists of still lifes, compositions of figures, portraits, street scenes and oil landscapes, watercolors or temper. As an illustrator, he illustrated L. Larsson’s Red Happiness in 1950, and for the Södra Theater in Malmö he made decorations on the revue stage. Aspelin is represented at the Malmö Museum and the Ystad Art Museum.
