Svend Aage Madsen Danish Teak Executive Desk, C. 1960s
An fine example of Danish mid-century modern design by Svend Åge Madsen, this freestanding executive desk was manufactured in Denmark in the 1960s by HP Hansen to the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Made with richly grained teak, the desk shows angular fluid lines, looking good from any angle. The gently bowed writing surface appears to float above the drawer banks, with a subtle raised lip along the rear edge that adds both elegance and practicality.
The front presents two floating pedestals of drawers fitted with finger-pull handles. The reverse is fully finished and equally considered, featuring a lockable cabinet door alongside open shelving — making the desk suitable for floating in the centre of a room as a true sculptural statement.
A superb, high-quality piece of 1960s Danish design that remains as practical as it is beautiful.
