A sublime antique hand-carved oak coat rack with an integrated hat shelf, originating from the German Gründerzeit period (c. 1890–1910). A unique statement piece that brings a sense of history and gravitas to an entryway, hallway, or study!
This exceptional piece is a fine example of late 19th-century European craftsmanship, blending robust construction with highly decorative elements. The rack features a deep, dark finish that beautifully highlights the intricate wood grain and elaborate carvings. The central panel is distinguished by its detailed acanthus leaf motifs - characteristic of the era's revivalist styles - and is flanked by two prominent, ornate lion heads.

• Material: Solid wood (likely oak) with a rich, authentic patina developed naturally over more than a century.
• Hooks: Fitted with 5 robust iron hooks. During a recent careful restoration, the hooks were professionally treated and refreshed with a new, atmospheric antique gold paint finish (oudgoud) that perfectly complements the historical character of the piece.
• Dimensions: 84 cm long, 24 cm high, 20 cm deep (shelf protrusion).
Condition:
The coat rack is in good, solid condition, preserving its original form and structural integrity. As expected with a genuine antique of this age, there is a fine, natural shrinkage crack visible on the back/shelf, and a minor cosmetic imperfection on one of the corners (clearly documented in the detailed close-up photos). Once mounted on the wall, these spots are completely unnoticeable and do not affect the sturdiness or aesthetic value of the piece.
