Desk box or jewelry box in painted wood with Chinese lacquer.
The decorated lid features a hand-drawn design from the late 19th century depicting 10 children playing in a natural setting with a mountain in the background, plants, and a pond in the foreground. The decoration is achieved with gold powder on a black background; note the subtle variations in color on the clothing and flowers.
The interior is divided into three compartments.
Antique box in very good condition.
