"Still Becoming"
Some flowers bloom for only one season. Others continue to evolve.
This blue dahlia bears the traces of its own history. Not only in its form, but also in its surface. The work originated from a hand-cut linoleum printing plate, which itself became the final artwork. Over time, it went through multiple color phases. Old layers never completely disappeared but remained visible beneath new hues, creating a rich layering that would be impossible to achieve with a single painting.
The frame tells the same story as well. Once painted a sleek and uniform green, it was later reworked, repainted, and carefully sanded back.
This created a weathered surface in which time has not become damage, but character.
The blue dahlia symbolizes inner strength, fidelity to oneself, and the beauty that arises when something does not have to be perfect. It is precisely the visible traces of change that give this work its soul.
Still Becoming is about growth that never stops. About the courage to start over again and again without erasing the past. Each layer carries the memory of the previous one, making the whole ever richer.
A serene and powerful artwork in which craftsmanship, time, and change converge.
