Tubular steel chair, chrome-plated steel and textile,
design W.H. Gispen, Netherlands, 1930s.
This chair, model 108, is an early version with a round loop sled base.
The round loop sled base was replaced by a rectangular one after 1945;
this is therefore an early – possibly pre-war – version.
(dating between 1934 and 1945).
Given its age, this chair is in particularly good condition;
the chrome is still beautiful, with minimal signs of use but nowhere corroded.
Only at the transition from the ‘front legs’ to the sled base is the chrome somewhat dull due to the extensive ‘footwork’.
Somewhat springy seating comfort because the seat and sled base are not connected.
The seat and backrest have been reupholstered with a tweed-like blue fabric,
matching the business style of the chair.
Incidentally, the seats and backrests were supplied in several
versions and shapes: in wood, imitation leather, upholstery fabric,
with or without filling.
Dimensions: back height 85 cm, seat height 48 cm, seat width 43 cm,
seat depth 44 cm, backrest height 23 cm.
Due to size and weight,
can only be picked up in Hardinxveld-Giessendam.
Home delivery within the Netherlands is possible after consultation, subject to a fuel cost reimbursement.
