A Saori wall or ceiling lamp designed by Kazuhide Takahama for Sirrah in the 1970s, born from the meeting of Japanese formal restraint and Italian lighting innovation. Takahama reduces the object to its essential elements, transforming light into a pure volume where the diffuser itself becomes the defining architectural feature.
The square structure is wrapped in a tensioned stretch fabric that creates a gentle diagonal fold across the surface. This subtle gesture gives depth to the volume and produces a refined interplay of light and shadow even when the lamp is switched off. Once illuminated, the fabric diffuses a soft, even glow that enhances the purity of the design while giving the piece an almost architectural presence.
Reflecting Takahama's ongoing exploration of simplicity, material and light, Saori stands among the most refined lighting designs produced by Sirrah during the 1970s. A timeless piece that furnishes a space with the same quiet elegance with which it illuminates it.
