Patricia Urquiola (1961) is a world-renowned, Milan-based Spanish architect and designer, known for her innovative, eclectic, and sensory designs. After training under design greats such as Achille Castiglioni, she founded her own studio in 2001. She combines humanist and technological perspectives in furniture, interiors, and architecture for top brands such as Cassina, Moroso, and Kartell.
Patricia Urquiola designed this swivel armchair in 2005 for the Italian company Moroso. In the Smock chair, she combined craftsmanship and industrial processing to create a stylish, refined piece that connects with the feminine universe. Two rings become armrests, resembling the simple style of a bamboo bag, the shell resembling a baseball glove; a comfortable, welcoming nest. The embroidery on the side, in smock stitch, gives the drapery a contemporary feel and a lightness to the form, giving the chair the grace and sophistication of a classic fashion accessory!
