This small opal glass casserole dish immediately transports us to the colorful world of French kitchens of the 1970s. Made by Arcopal for the Codec brand, it combines the characteristic whiteness of opal with a generous floral design in the emblematic tones of the decade. A band of orange and yellow flowers mixed with anise-green foliage runs all around the piece. The vibrant and cheerful graphic design fully embraces the seventies aesthetic, which is now making a comeback in vintage interiors and tables. The Codec name appears directly within the design, accompanied by the brand's old emblem. Arcopal was then developing tempered opal glass tableware, designed for everyday use. Durable and easy to maintain, this material became inseparable from French tables of the 1960s and 1970s, giving rise to a multitude of designs now sought after for their retro character. This casserole dish measures approximately 17 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height. Its two side handles are directly formed in the opal glass, giving it the characteristic silhouette of the small baking dishes of the period. Preserved in very good condition, it features shiny opal glass and a floral design with colors that have remained particularly vibrant. The lid that originally accompanied this model is no longer present. A beautiful Arcopal piece from the 1970s, as appealing for completing a vintage tableware collection as for bringing all the graphic exuberance of this decade to a contemporary table.
