Ib Kofod-Larsen was a Danish architect and furniture designer. After studying architecture at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, the young designer opened his own studio in the city. He collaborated with furniture manufacturers in Germany, Sweden, Japan, the USA, and Great Britain, and exhibited his work throughout Europe and the United States. Ib Kofod-Larsen was responsible for some of the most experimental designs of the Danish Modern movement; his best-known works include the Elizabeth Chair (1956) and the Seal Chair (1955). Today, the designer's sculptural pieces are among the most sought-after items for collectors and gallerists worldwide. The Model 650-15 rocking chair offered here was designed by Kofod-Larsen in 1965 for Christian Linneberg Møbelfabrik. Its sculptural design is distinguished by boomerang-shaped armrests and a tall, spindle-back backrest. The frame is crafted from solid teak, while the loose cushions are upholstered in light-colored wool. Features the manufacturer's mark.
