Artist's copy with Atelier Corneille stamp on the back. Commercial edition of 100 copies. Rare and uncommon work. Large original lithograph by the painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), born in Liège to Dutch parents, founding member of the Cobra movement. Overall dimensions: 76 x 55.8 cm - Signed and dated in graphite by the artist. Very good condition with pitted and yellowed spine. Plan to frame - Secure shipping with insurance by UPS. Grand Master of color in the wake of Gauguin and Matisse, Guillaume Corneille creates a jovial world full of exoticism. A traveling artist, Corneille, thanks to his friend Alan Davie, meets David Hockney on the London scene. Both erudite painters, they have the same taste for color, this sense of simplification of the line and the same consistency in making nods to the history of art of past centuries and to their own history.
