Beautiful vintage sideboard, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by the Wébé furniture factory in the 1960s. This model is listed in the catalogue under the name ‘Combi Nr. 105’ and was 20cm wider than its smaller sibling named ‘Combi Nr. 104’.
This piece comes from the heirs of the first owners from Alkmaar and has always remained in the same family. Grandma’s cabinet was sold due to a lack of space caused by a family expansion.
The cabinet has been fully restored with great care in our workshop. Rings on the top surface have been removed and the beautiful, warm teak wood has been refinished with a satin finish. As can be seen in the photos, this has really done it good; the original charm from the 1960s is completely back. The cabinet is free of damage but, due to its age, naturally shows some small signs of life. Virtually invisible, but worth mentioning. It also gives it just a little extra character, you could say. The cabinet offers a surprising amount of storage space. It features a large flap with a small shelf behind it, a spacious upper compartment, two smaller doors at the bottom, three drawers, and a door with an integrated bar. For its time, it was a particularly well-thought-out and progressive design. Both the base and the contours of the cabinet have a beautiful organic form. The lines are elegant and executed down to the last detail, typical of Teeffelen. The characteristic ‘smiling face’ handles are also present, giving the whole piece a playful and recognizable character.
In summary: a mid-century gem that is once again completely ready for a new, loving home. Designed with inspiration from Danish aesthetics, but produced with Dutch craftsmanship. Something to be proud of!
