Oscar Verpoorten is the son of the artist Frans Verpoorten. Oscar Verpoorten (1952-2003-Haarlem) was a self-taught etcher with his own vision and etching technique, recognizably pure, powerful and non-conformist. His fascination with iron, weathered ships and structures makes their raw beauty audible and tangible. His etchings are framed in self-welded steel "rust" frames, further emphasizing the subjects of his work. Quirky and recognizable, he has achieved great fame within the maritime world as an etcher in 30 years. "The best compliment I ever received was being called out for being a Gypsy in art." Etching size 28 x 43 cm.
Traces of time. Paper slightly discolored.
