Product description
Set of 6 Large Hand-Cut Crystal Wine Glasses – De Rupel, Boom – Art Deco, 1930s A beautiful set of 6 large hand-cut crystal wine glasses produced by the Belgian crystal manufacturer De Rupel, located in Boom, Belgium. These glasses date from the 1930s, the height of the Art Deco period, and are documented in original factory catalogues (see reference images). Each glass is handcrafted from fine crystal and decorated with precise hand-cut geometric patterns. The crisp vertical and diamond-style cuts enhance the brilliance and clarity of the crystal, creating striking light reflections—especially under warm ambient lighting. The faceted stems and balanced proportions give the glasses a refined yet solid presence on the table. With a height of approximately 14 cm and a capacity of around 200 ml, these glasses are perfectly suited for serving wine or water. Their elegant silhouette and disciplined decorative language are characteristic of 1930s Belgian Art Deco crystal, where geometry, symmetry, and functionality were key design principles. Ideal both for everyday refined use and for special occasions, these glasses embody the craftsmanship and aesthetic confidence of pre-war European crystal production. About De Rupel (Boom, Belgium) The Cristallerie de Rupel, based in Boom near Antwerp, was an important Belgian glass and crystal manufacturer active primarily in the first half of the 20th century. During the 1930s, the factory produced a wide range of high-quality tableware reflecting the strong influence of Art Deco—favoring clear forms, architectural cuts, and excellent material quality. De Rupel glassware from this period is known for its balance between decorative refinement and practical usability. The company’s production combined traditional hand-cutting techniques with modern design sensibilities, making its pieces both elegant and durable. Today, crystal by De Rupel is increasingly sought after by collectors of Art Deco and Belgian glass for its authenticity, craftsmanship, and historical significance within European decorative arts. Will be well packaged and protected
