The chairs have a backrest with five slats and four rounded wooden legs. These are made entirely of ash wood. Ash is a tough, durable wood with a slightly yellowish to light brown color, which was frequently used for furniture of this type in Scandinavia and Central Europe.
The company logo and the quality seal of Victoria Werke AG Baar are displayed on the underside of the seat. This is a word-image mark featuring the Victoria ladybug and the inscription "Victoria Furniture / Beautiful Swiss Quality / The Beautiful Swiss Furniture 6812".
The Victoria ladybug depicted is a stylized version with distinctive geometric shapes (a round body with two black dots, a black vertical line in the middle, and a black area in the shape of a circular segment above, topped with two black squares as antennae). This version was used from 1957/58 to 1980 and was created by the Baar-based graphic designer and artist Elso Schiavo. Prior to this, from 1939 to 1956/57, a more naturalistic version of the Victoria ladybug was in use.
The Victoria factory in Baar produced furniture of the highest Swiss quality from 1939 to 1998. These chairs are an outstanding example of timeless design and first-class craftsmanship. Victoria Baar furniture, including wall units, shelves, chairs, and sofas, blends seamlessly into modern living rooms, bedrooms, or offices even after decades.
Condition: The chairs are in good vintage condition with a charming patina. They show only minor signs of age-related wear.
