The Spaghetti Chair 101, designed by Giandomenico Belotti for the Italian manufacturer Alias, is a minimalist masterpiece of postmodernism and an internationally recognized design classic.
It was the first chair from Alias to be included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York - impressive proof of its design relevance.
The name "Spaghetti Chair" is derived from the characteristic covering of PVC cords that form the seat and backrest. These fine lines create an elegant, visually permeable structure that lends the chair an astonishing lightness despite its robust materials.
The filigree, chrome-plated tubular steel structure lends the chair stability and formal clarity, while the elastic plastic cords adapt ergonomically to the body and thus offer surprising comfort. The design follows the principle of reduction to the essentials, yet remains refined and iconic.
The clear lines, geometric rigor and transparency of the upholstery make the Spaghetti Chair a versatile object - whether in the dining room, office or public spaces.
