Four white leather shells, each floating on a single crescent of polished steel. No back legs, no crossbar, no pedestal — one flat chromed blade sweeps across the floor and rises to carry the seat in full cantilever. Seen from the side, almost nothing remains but a line. The model is called Scimitar, after the curved sabre — the exact shape of the base, echoed as a void inside the shell itself, where a crescent-shaped opening separates the armrest from the seat. One gesture, drawn twice: once solid, once hollow. Attributed to Boris Tabacoff (1927-1985), the Bulgarian-born designer who settled in Paris in the 1950s, worked for Pierre Cardin, and was the first of the post-war Paris school to design in Plexiglas. His models were edited by Mobilier Modulaire Moderne (MMM) from 1971. These are not dining chairs in the ordinary sense. At 44 cm seat height with integrated armrests, they are low armchairs: equally at home around a dining table, flanking a console, behind a desk, or grouped in a waiting room or studio. Condition — Original, unrestored. The white leather is original and in very good order for its age: even colour across all four, sound stitching, firm padding, with light surface marks and slight darkening in contact areas. Never re-dyed or replaced. The chrome carries its age: surface oxidation and scattered pitting, strongest at the welds and along the underside of the crescents. This is inherent to 1970s chrome plating and cannot be removed without full re-plating, which we deliberately chose not to do. Cleaned and polished without abrasion. Frames sound, stable, no play. All four usable as they are. Detail photographs included.
