A rare set of three large Claudia L-102/32 candlesticks, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for the Swedish manufacturer Markaryd in the 1960s. Crafted from brass and tinted glass in an elegant gradient of smoky, honey, and cognac tones, they perfectly embody the refinement of post-war Scandinavian design.
Each candlestick features an ingenious spring-loaded system concealed within the stem, allowing for easy adjustment and securing of the candle. The cylindrical glass shades diffuse a soft, warm light, characteristic of Jakobsson's designs, which sought to soften the flame's brilliance through the use of subtly light-filtering materials.
The set is in excellent vintage condition. The bases display varying patinas, reflecting their history and use over time. There are slight traces of oxidation on the brass, as well as small chips on the underside of the glass shades, invisible when the pieces are assembled (see photographs). All three pieces retain their original manufacturer's labels.
