A rare set of two vintage STAFF Leuchten model 6606/09 wall or ceiling lamps, designed by the renowned Japanese lighting designer Motoko Ishii.
These compact mirrored lamps are a beautiful example of German Space Age lighting design from the late 1960s/1970s. The sculptural form combines a faceted square base with a reflective dome-shaped shade, creating a striking jewel-like appearance even when switched off. When lit, the mirrored surfaces produce a warm, atmospheric glow, making them ideal as accent lighting, bedside wall lamps, hallway lights or decorative ceiling-mounted fixtures.
Motoko Ishii is one of Japan’s most important lighting designers. After studying at Tokyo University of the Arts and gaining experience in Finland and Germany, she founded Motoko Ishii Lighting Design Inc. in Tokyo in 1968. Her work ranges from light objects to major architectural and urban illumination projects, which makes her vintage product designs for STAFF especially collectible.
This listing is for a matching pair in very good vintage condition. The lamps show only minor age-related signs of use, consistent with their age. Their reflective finish remains very attractive and displays beautifully. Please review the photos carefully, as they form part of the description.
