Iconic table lamp from the Panthella series, designed in 1971 by Danish designer Verner Panton for lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen. Its organically flowing design is among the most recognizable examples of Scandinavian design from the 1970s. The hemispherical shade made of opal acrylic diffuses the light softly and evenly throughout the room. A portion of the light is also reflected by the characteristic trumpet-shaped base, creating a pleasant and glare-free illumination. Shade and base form a harmonious sculptural unit, lending the lamp its futuristic character.
This particular model is an early version of the large Panthella table lamp, model number 23430. This variant is one of the first series produced after the lamp's market launch in the early 1970s and is now considerably rarer than the smaller Panthella models produced later. Typical features of these early series include the push-button switch in the base, the original Louis Poulsen manufacturer's label Type 23430 – Made in Denmark, and the characteristic internal construction with a transparent diffuser and three metal pins beneath the shade.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of wear. Minor scratches are visible on the base. The acrylic shade shows only slight signs of use. Technically functional.
Dimensions: L50 × W50 × H70 cm
