Set of two original Gelderland model 5480 armchairs, designed by Jan des Bouvrie. This is a rarer model from the Lotus series, recognizable by its more active seating position and longer wooden rear legs.
Dimensions: 45w x 82h (backrest) x 47h (seat) x 71h (armrest) x 58d
The underside shows the brand buttons and steel Nosag interior suspension (zigzag springs).
The suspension is in excellent condition.
The chrome-plated tubular frame has virtually no permanent damage and only needs a polish.
The black lacquered wood (rear legs and armrests) shows wear in several places. This can easily be remedied with light sanding and a fresh coat of lacquer or paint.
The black leather shows significant cracking and is due for replacement. A major advantage when reupholstering: Gelderland furniture is specially designed based on a unique strip system. Although these original leather covers are tightly secured by the factory for a perfect fit, this allows an upholsterer to efficiently remove them and replace them with a completely new cover (your choice of fabric or leather).
We are selling the chairs due to moving. Preferably pick up in the week of July 13.
