Rare Scandinavian bar cabinet from the 1960s attributed to Kurt Østervig, teak veneered, with refined interior layout and brass details.
Rare Scandinavian bar cabinet from the 1960s attributed to Kurt Østervig, a key figure of Danish modernism known for his refined, restrained designs and strong focus on craftsmanship and functionality. The cabinet is veneered in teak, with warm, even grain, and stands on slender tapered legs that visually lighten the structure.
The distinctive horizontal roll-top closure reveals a carefully organized interior: a mirrored section with a shaped glass shelf designed to display bottles and glassware, alongside a compartment with small cutlery drawers and storage shelves. Origina and fully functioning integrated lighting element. Brass handles add a subtle material contrast to the teak surface. Active mainly during the 1950s and 1960s, Østervig is highly regarded for his ability to combine formal clarity with artisanal quality, making his furniture particularly sought after by collectors.
